The Straddlers Walking Group leader plans a circular walk of around 8 to 9 miles, and walks at a similar pace to our Striders Walking Group. We have walked large areas of West Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire, and we travel up to 40 miles from Fairford to find some really interesting walks.

We carry our own refreshments and we stop for a coffee break after about an hour and for lunch after about 2–21/2 hours. Always carry drinking water and walking boots are strongly recommended.

Lifts from Fairford in other walker’s cars are normally possible, for which a small contribution to cover fuel costs is required. Each walker pays the walk leader £1 to cover his/her expenses, who will have previously walked the route some weeks before the organised walk day.

Each month’s walk leader is decided at our Annual Planning Meeting in December.
