Ancient Greek is a small Group that started just before the first Lockdown and has continued almost, but not quite, weekly since Feb 2020. The ānot quiteā accounts for things like holidays and Christmas etc. At first we used the JACT course āReading Greekā but latterly have been working through a book called āGreek to GCSEā to reinforce the grammar we learnt from the first half of the JACT course. Eventually we expect to go back and complete the later, and more challenging half of āReading Greekā.
Most Wednesdays will find us doing a bit of Greek: by Zoom at first but now meeting every Wednesday in the Group Leader’s house at 2:30 pm. There are only four of us (one person fell by the wayside last year) and it would be difficult (but not impossible) to accommodate anyone who didnāt have prior knowledge of the language. If there is someone who would like to learn Ancient Greek from scratch he or she should contact the Group Leader who would try to work something out. You would be welcome to come and observe one of our meetings to see whether it would be for you: just get in touch.
