Monthly Meeting 6 June 2023
2.30 at the Palmer Hall, London Road, Fairford
Our speakers for June are Rob and Cathryn Wilcock who woke up one
day to find that a rare meteorite had landed on their drive, their
amazement at touching the oldest pile of rock on the Earth, the dawning
for them of how important that is for the scientific community and the
huge media and public interest that ensued once the find became public.
Rob and Cathryn are keen educators and so they arranged for experts
from the Natural History Museum to join them on a schools’ outreach
programme in the area. In one week, they visited eight schools and
reached 1500 children from whom they hope the next generation of
scientists will be inspired.
